Like all our areas in London, East London had its challenges with redevelopment and losing queers spaces, to the exciting recent opening of new places like The Glory and Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club, Queen Adelaide and Vogue Fabrics already making their indelible mark on the UK gay scene, never mind just the East End. What used to be a pretty underground gritty glamorous scene, has become an uber-popular destination where the cool kids go. Venues serving cabaret and dancing debauchery since the ’90s with the Ship Inn and the Famous White Swan, East London has been serving it since we can all remember.
